I have been building web sites for over 15 years. What started as a hobby has now become a business I do on the side. I work from my home which keeps my expenses at a minumum. I usually work alone bringing other talented individuals into a project on an as needed basis. This method allows me to deliver an affordable product to my clients. Unlike many programmers I prefer to hand code my sites making each truly custom, I do not use any programs to generate the code keeping it clean and concise. I use the W3C Validators to check all my coding to ensure it is error free. Valid code will force the browsers to render a page as it was intended to be viewed. I test my web pages with several browsers and operating systems which include Windows 98, 2000, XP, 7, and Linux. I give my clients what they want, not what I think they want. If I believe there are better choices, I will offer my advice on the matter.
I create basic to moderately complex web sites employing the use of style sheets to control the content presentation. I use a combination of JavaScript, VBS, ASP, and PHP as required to create a fully functional site. In addition databases may be required for sites that need a content management system.
Following the Web Design Flowchart helps keep projects on track and on time from concept to launch. There are several checkpoints during the process to ensure the integrity and progress. After the site launch more work needs to be done. The site needs to be announced to the major search engines and the general public. Then the visitor traffic is checked using the raw log files from the web server to examine which pages are viewed the most and what keywords are used to find the site. Fine tuning of the meta keywords and content on the site then helps to attain a higher ranking with the search engines.
